📢📢📢 Urgent call for action against Chat Control!
The EU still wants to pass the infamous "Chat Control" law, that would mandate scanning of all private digital communications, including encrypted messages and photos. This threatens fundamental privacy rights and can transform EU into a digital Gulag. Currently only 3 countries oppose this law, while 15 member states support it and 9 remain indecisive.
This means, the balance can still be shifted! It is very important to influence at least those who are in doubt. For instance, you can contact a MEP (Member of the European Parliament) and demand to oppose to Chat Control.
There is a tool that automates the process of writing and sending such letters:

Should large Fediverse instances and Bluesky encourage, not require, users to opt-in to bridges that connect the Fediverse to Bluesky and other non-fedi social web platforms?
Bridges like Bridgy-Fed and others can connect Fediverse to interact with Bluesky from their Fediverse account. Bridges are an opt-in which I think its a great thing for privacy. But at the same time, I don't think the majority of Fediverse users who would be interested in using bridges know that they exist.
What I am suggesting is that large Fediverse instances (and Bluesky) encourage and make it easy to use brigdes by having an easy tool to turn on or turn off bridges.
An example situation could be when someone creates an account on mastadon.social, a small pop up shows ups explaining what bridges are in two-three sentences, and has a recommended bridge to use along with a drop down of other options to choose from, and ask it they would like to bridge or not like to bridge.

I realized why us millennials miss the technology of the 2000s and early 2010s so much.
This was the period when everything was already mature and reliable (operating systems had memory protection and preemptive multitasking!) but user respect was still very much the default. Dark patterns were rare — the only one I remember was some installers trying to sneak the Yandex IE toolbar. The only modal popups there were on websites, were ads on the shady ones.

в ответ на Wandering Thinker • • •Баланс белого правильный. Прошлой ночью небо реально прямо синее было. Может, чуть менее синее, чем на фото. Мы оба отметили этот факт. Градиент от заката к противоположной стороне неба шел из желто-оранжевого в насыщенный темно-синий.
Цвета кожи из за этого отехали, пол лица правильно, вторая половина лица уходит в фиолетовые... Короче, это реально такой свет был.
У меня еще фото с рыбаками (нравится мне, там милая парочка: мужчина и женщина в лодке с удочками) и там прямо вообще сложно со светом. ББ аж 8000 и все равно весь кадр синий (холодный). Я еще не придумал как сделать на том фото вменяемый цвет. Потом выложу, наверное, даже как "до и после".

Подругу в конце июля за ногу кусили раза 4... там аж раны от укусов. Никогда такого не видел от комаров. Но вот теперь у нас такие лютые комары. Маленькие, злобные пираньи с крыльями.
