Chevron, who through a coup controlled the Ecuadorian government for many years, got the government to sign a law called “The Act of Liberation”, which, although very much contradicting the name, made it impossible for anyone (especially indigenous people) to sue the oil company.
They made it illegal to be sued.

Примерно любое произведение времен СССР в котором герой (обычно школьник-пионер) попадает в сказочный или фантастический мир. Единственный детский писатель, у кого мне однажды попалось некоторое отступление от этого шаблона - Крапивин. Но, конец восьмидесятых это наверное уже и не совсем советская проза. @johan для меня Крапивин (как и Булычев) делится на доперестроечный и перестроечный период. Я читал его более или менее старую прозу. Во времена еще живого СССР это все было очень современно и круто.

@Dmitry Я же отписывался несколько раз в течение вечера. Старый, тяжело больной Б/П был заменен на старый-но-не-бесполезный Asus, а красивый, но топорный и мертвый кулер — на коробочный в хорошем состоянии. Затраты составили 800 ₽, но еще термопаста нужна, которую в выходные купить оказалось сложно.

Ну, собственно, вот он, мой первый самодельный (самогонный?) сидр. Вкус... интересный. Не сладкий, не кислый (ну разве что чуть-чуть), довольно резкий. Алкоголь чувствуется, но по мозгам не дает. Слил первые 3 литра, оставив остальное в баке. Через месяц попробую еще раз. Посмотрим, что изменится.

И последний на сегодня - "страшный и ужасный" Кай. Не, так-то он красавчик, обожает женщин и детей. А вот на мужчин проявляет агрессию. Выяснилось это когда его пристраивать начали. До того с ним всё барышни общались, и всё было замечательно.
занятно, но у меня было три собаки все из которых ненавидели мужчин. Ко мне вообще никто не мог приблизится мужского пола ближе чем на 3 метра. Собаки все были крупные, так что и увечья были бы такими же. Одна из них ещё ненавидела детей а другая ментов 😅
@M1nxme Опасная женщина! Это так-то ведь не очень хорошо. Когда собака тебя МОЖЕТ защитить в случае чего - это здорово. Но если собака просто без повода на людей бросается... Я бы не хотел такую собаку.

мы предположили что с нашими собаками плохо обращались. Мы их всех с улиц забирали, как правило в дождь они бегали. Давали объявления, но хозяева так и не находились, видимо просто выбрасывали. Все щенки были 4-6месяцев
@M1nxme А, вон как. Ну это да, это запросто. У меня у друзей дочка подобрала на улице собаку, которую порезали ножом, всю в кровище её домой притащила. Выходили. Так она да, никого кроме своих не признавала, сразу бросалась. Ну, то есть пыталась, Женька её всегда на поводке держал.
Злата, Златка. Только уж к старости смягчилась и я смог с ней подружиться. Как я радовался, когда она вместо оскала и рычания хвостом завиляла и гладиться подошла!
под старость признала 🥰 У нас самая маленькая была ирландский сеттер, потом был алабай и кавказец. Мы всех из спустя полгода у нас пристраивали в добрые руки. Пока все команды разучим, пока вообще в порядок приведем. Сложно было, потому что астма у папы бронхиальная была ): хз почему их выбрасывали, может не справлялись, собаки серьезные, их воспитывать надо.

так и есть. Это же не кошка, которая просто нассыт тебе в ботинки, она и задрать может. Мы потом своих навещали после пристройства у них всё хорошо было. Алабая вообще отдали на колхозные поля он носился там в радость)

Это мой новый знакомый - Мартин. Пёс странной комплекции - крупный, но не широкий, а высокий. Поэтому напоминает велосипед. Но Мощи в нём! Таскал меня по лесу, у меня сейчас аж рука слегка ноет.
@lina Я тебе скажу, у меня с прошлым бепешником была такая ситуёвина, только питания не хватало жесткому диску. Вот там пиздец был, хотя венда отчаянно пыталась делать вид, что работает. Перекинул его на другую линию и все были довольны, пока он бп по моей глупости не бабахнул.
Но можно ли оправдать проблемами питания жесткий шейпинг на 1 мб/с? У меня сомнения, если честно.
Утром случился FOSS-момент. Снимаю телефон с зарядки, а он какой-то тёплый. И Nextcloud что-то синхронизирует.
Оказалось, что приложение обновилось и в новой версии завезли баг, который вызывает синхронизацию всех доступных файлов локально. Файлов было много, но, к счастью, сервер тоже тормозной, поэтому скачал не всё. Зато так я узнал, что час непрерывной синхронизации убивает 70% полностью заряженной батареи.
Лечится переустановкой™. (или можно не переустанавливать, просто удалить все данные приложения и кэш, что от переустановки мало чем отличается) #лытдыбр

Там срабатывает при каких-то определённых условиях, при обновлении версии 29 на 30-31. Похоже, задело не всех и не сразу - у меня сработало на второй день.
да, нынче софт обновлять бывает опасно. появилась тенденция всё ломать и вносить баги в попытках гнаться за постоянным обновляторством. новые резвые тоже-программисты берут старый софт и поганят по полной программе.
@multed Я сравнивал только с Obsidian и Logseq лучше только тем, что опенсорс. Серьёзно, это тот критерий, по которому я выбрал.
Obsidian я всё же немножко пощупал и он показался мне более допиленным. В Logseq пока ещё куча младенческих багов: drag-and-drop срабатывает через раз, если написать пункт и вызвать /schedule — половина текста теряется, ну и всякое такое прочее.
Если бы выбирал сейчас (спустя пару месяцев использования Logseq), то выбор не изменился бы, т.к. outliner для моей задачи (таск-трекинг, GTD) подходит чуток лучше. Плагинами не пользуюсь, скорее всего у Obsidian их побольше.
Да, кстати, если вдруг кто-то читает этот тред и думает «синхронизация NextCloud Notes задолбала терять данные, дай-ка перееду на Syncthing» — не обольщайтесь, тут та же проблема. В начале дня берёшь один девайс, что-то пишешь в (свежесозданный) журнал. Берёшь второй девайс, пока Syncthing коннектится и синхронизируется — запускаешь Logseq, и он тоже создаёт журнал. Оп! — всё, журнал потерян. Видимо, дело в том, что свежесозданный пустой журнал новее того, что был на другом девайсе. Но в целом Syncthing маржинально лучше NextCloud Notes за счёт того, что чаще замечает конфликты и сохраняет обе копии, а не теряет одну.
Спасибо, за развернутый ответ! Я какое-то время уже веду записи в Obsidian, просматривал ещё в сторону опенсорсного AnyType, но он у меня не прижился. Logseq попробую, выглядит минималистично и вдруг это то, что надо мне. А про synching я иллюзий не питаю - есть опыт общения с ним - поэтому пишу в обсидиан только на ноуте. @shuro
@multed О, в AnyType используются CRDT, там вполне может быть решена вот эта проблема с синхронизацией. А почему он у тебя не прижился, какие были сложности?
Не прижился потому что... Да фик знает, если честно. Я Notion трижды пытался освоить и, вроде обжился, а потом моя неорганизованность взяла верх. С энитайпом похожая ситуация была. Да и сложно перетаскивать своё барахло из одной онлайн системы в другую. @shuro

Вообще он хорошо работает. Ситуация, которую я описал выше — это скорее corner case на пересечении Syncthing, Logseq и автостарта приложений при запуске компьютера. Собственно, я обошёл проблему простым удалением Logseq из автостарта.
Syncthing у меня хорошо работает в ручном режиме. Запустил, подождал, закрыл. Но хочется же чтобы оно само всё самостоятельно синхронизировало 😀 @shuro
На Андроид это уже так, на линуксах можно сделать службу (есть на сайте инструкция), на Винде SyncTrazor в автозагрузке (хотя, наверное, можно и службой).
Главное не забыть про веб-интерфейс, по-умолчанию он не запаролен и в сети могут быть сюрпризы 😀
Syncthing-Fork из Fdroid ничего так, там есть возможность гибко настроить запуск. У меня стоит на условие "запускать на зарядке", мне подходит, но есть и другие варианты.
Я про автозапуск Logseq 😀 С автозапуском Syncthing проблем нет. На Андроиде тоже пользуюсь Syncthing-Fork, запускается если есть сеть; фотки гоняет только через Wi-Fi, а заметки через всё подряд.
На Андроиде бывает, что текущее приложение выжрало всю память и система прибила Syncthing, но такое случается редко.

Буквально вчера смотрел этот фильм, поэтому поделюсь своим мнением.
Первая половина фильма смотрится неплохо, но вот вторая максимально скомкана - все происходит очень быстро. Сцена в конце так вообще сломала всю магию, ибо по моему это плохо смонтированный и снятый финал.
Итого, оценю в 5/10. Кажется надо было постараться профукать такой фильм.

Фильм прекрасный. Огромный плюс это старый актерский состав. По динамике лучше, чем первая часть. Однозначно рекомендую к просмотру.
I feel like we need to talk about Lemmy's massive tankie censorship problem. A lot of popular lemmy communities are hosted on lemmy.ml. It's been well known for a while that the admins/mods of that instance have, let's say, rather extremist and onesided political views. In short, they're what's colloquially referred to as tankies. This wouldn't be much of an issue if they didn't regularly abuse their admin/mod status to censor and silence people who dissent with their political beliefs and for example, post things critical of China, Russia, the USSR, socialism, ...
As an example, there was a thread today about the anniversary of the Tiananmen Massacre. When I was reading it, there were mostly posts critical of China in the thread and some whataboutist/denialist replies critical of the USA and the west. In terms of votes, the posts critical of China were definitely getting the most support.
I posted a comment in this thread linking to "https://archive.ph/2020.07.12-074312/https://imgur.com/a/AIIbbPs" (WARNING: graphical content), which describes aspects of the atrocities that aren't widely known even in the West, and supporting evidence. My comment was promptly removed for violating the "Be nice and civil" rule. When I looked back at the thread, I noticed that all posts critical of China had been removed while the whataboutist and denialist comments were left in place.

When I called them out on their one sided censorship, with a screenshot of the modlog above, I promptly received a community ban on all communities on lemmy.ml that I had ever participated in.

So many of you will now probably think something like: "So what, it's the fediverse, you can use another instance."
The problem with this reasoning is that many of the popular communities are actually on lemmy.ml, and they're not so easy to replace. I mean, in terms of content and engagement lemmy is already a pretty small place as it is. So it's rather pointless sitting for example in /c/linux@some.random.other.instance.world where there's nobody to discuss anything with.
I'm not sure if there's a solution here, but I'd like to urge people to avoid lemmy.ml hosted communities in favor of communities on more reasonable instances.
People are naive if they think the .ml admins and devs don't intend to keep their thumb on the Lemmy scale. More instances need to take this threat seriously and defederate from .ml, and possibly even fork the Lemmy repos for when the devs inevitably decide they want to start building quiet exploits into the code. There are serious cyber security implications here that people are sleeping on

I honestly disagree that blocking works the same. Social media relies on a network effect, and if they keep being allowed to operate popular communities then they will have that network effect in their favour, and new users that don't know any better will keep joining.
Defederation is an important tool to turn certain instances into pariahs for bad behaviour, and individual blocks don't achieve that.
This is a lot of the problem with gen z, especially among the left. Everyone is quick to smash the block button, which in aggregate just makes everything worse for everyone else.
Well I'd be fascinated to see how you arrive at that conclusion but until then I'm going to have to disagree on the basic principle that the generalisations people make about generations are usually pretty useless.

Whenever this topic comes up, I find myself wondering what these folks do all day. Not in a Boomer "don't these people have jobs?!?" way, but more ... what is it like to be them? Do they just sit in front of the computer looking for conversations to disrupt? What is their daily existence? Because I find their volume and dedication to what they do fascinating. Cancerous and absurd, but also fascinating.
Do they genuinely believe the shit they're peddling or are they paid propagandists or is their something more nefarious afoot.
From my interactions, I've come to the conclusion that they're mostly seriously broken people who've discovered Marx, convinced themselves that capitalism is the cause of all suffering and believe socialism is the solution that will free them from their trauma. The degree of their attachment to socialism is a reflection of the degree of their suffering and brokenness.
If they weren't so toxic, they'd be deserving of compassion and forebearance.
I mean.... that description quite accurately describes me. I'm a broken person who has become convinced capitalism is a major source of strife in today's world, and have come to believe in socialism as the answer.
However... that hasn't led me to champion authoritarian states that repress people. There must be a little something extra thrown in there. My guess would be an unacknowledged desire to replace their oppressors.
This reminds me, I wrote something on the subject once:
When you're privileged, and never had to fight for anything in life, you probably won't even recognise it when you see it happen right in front of you. In fact, you might even write it off as baseless antagonism, a thoughtless disruption of peace, and side with the oppressors.

Gonna put this out there. Ended up in a thread on ML the other day. The poster/admin got a little unhinged, over 4 down votes. 4. Took to the admin panel to see who dared down vote him. Convinced he had been the victim of the tiniest not swarm ever.
You gotta admit, it's very suspicious to be massively downvoted (25, not 4) over an inconspicuous comment that merely highlights a few paragraphs of the linked article.
I know I would also be wondering if there was a pattern in the origin of those downvotes.

Most are violations of Rule 1 where there is clearly no violation.
Others are removed simply for being “liberal” or “blue MAGA” which neither are violations of any rule, and the latter is just a childish nonsensical insult. Which IS against the rules.
Having said this- it’s their instance and their community to do with as they please. If the freedom to disagree violates their emotional safe-space and hurts their feelings- then they don’t deserve your traffic and interaction. А зачем делать отдельную валюту, уже у всех есть свои. Что мешает рассчитываться в рублях, юанях и рупиях друг с другом через имеющиеся системы, тот же Мир?
Китай сейчас рубит транзакции в юанях и не принимает Мир не из-за отсутствия технической возможности, это политическое решение. Что поменяется-то.
То эта валюта будет ходить только в этих трёх странах, а Китай и Индия больше не смогут использовать доллары, евро, фунты и т.п. по всему миру (ну кроме наличных) Дальше каждый кто присоединится, тоже будет отрезан от долларов и евро.
@OfShad0ws айм сорри, а в чем проблема то? По какому такому "всему миру" не смогут использовать фунты/евро/доллары поюс-минус три миллиарда человек? Или беда в том что они окажутся по противоположную от основной массы этих валют сторону занавеса (основной массы которая и так не была у них на руках)?
Впрочем, так-то да, ничто не мешает продолжать использовать доллары кому угодно в каких угодно целях и никого не спрашивать. О том и речь, что нет нужды что-то изобретать. Бьют ведь не паспорту, а по роже - давление оказывается не из-за факта использования долларов, а в принципе.
Можно с китайскими организациями рассчитываться хоть в живых баранах, это не помешает условному Вашингтону сказать "прекращайте или попадёте под санкции уже вы".

Цена на золото как бы подсказывает внимательному наблюдателю что запрет на хождение доллара это очень печально, но совсем не так печально как 10-20 лет назад. А втэоо что будет через 10 лет ещё интересней.

They made it illegal to be sued.
