What does a person just returned from sunny Spain do? They immediately sign up for an open-air speaking event in cold, misty Berlin! It’s such a big event, though, the temptation itself is heart- (and, hopefully, larynx-) warming. Berlin Freedom Week is a city-wide international programme of talks, interviews, and an interactive exhibition marking freedom, remembrance, and the responsibilities that come with both. The format is simple: a mobile stage stops at key sites, short conversations happen on site, and anyone can listen in. Attendance is free.

Our date is tomorrow, November 9th - the day the Berlin Wall fell. Our spot is no less significant - Berlin Wall Memorial; time - 11:30–12:00. I’ll be joining a panel, “Voices across Borders: Reaching from Afar,” with my esteemed colleague Pradnya Bivalkar, well known to the trusty fans of the Unboxing Russia podcast. The conversation will be moderated by Maksim Kournikov.

The entire programme is open-air, free, and accessible to everyone. You can just come by and listen.

Now, speaking outdoors in Berlin in mid-November is, indeed, an act of that optimism of which I have been so often - and so baselessly - accused. We will try our best to ensure our “voices reaching from afar” are not immediately carried away by the wind or stifled by the cold.

Мне не нравится, что приходится дважды кликать, чтобы продвинуть пост. Как вернуться к старому способу, когда можно было просто нажать один раз на кнопку?

• Зайдите в настройки;
• Прокрутите вниз до раздела Boosting preferences (пока не переведено);
• Установите флажок Enable quick boosting;
• Сохраните изменения.

После этого функция продвижения вернется к прежнему режиму, а цитирование переедет в меню ⋯

Почему в цитируемом сообщении указано: «Эта публикация ожидает одобрения первоначального автора»?

Простой ответ: это баг, который обычно исчезает сам собой, и цитируемый пост в конечном итоге появится. В Mastodon нет механизма, позволяющего кому-либо одобрить цитату после публикации; автор либо соглашается, либо нет при первой публикации своего поста.

Чуть менее простой ответ: это сообщение должно отображаться в качестве резервного варианта, если есть возможность процитировать сообщение до того, как автор дал на это разрешение. На Fediverse существует множество различных платформ и реализаций цитирования. Однако Mastodon в его текущем состоянии не позволяет цитировать сообщения без предварительного разрешения, поэтому это сообщение не должно появляться, если и цитирующий, и цитируемый находятся на Mastodon. Обычно сообщение исчезает само собой, без каких-либо действий со стороны пользователя, так что в таких случаях это, вероятно, ошибка.
