yeah but now they get converted into mp4s, which is a mistake, because mp4s sometimes have sound and sometimes don't. so they are not a good format to replace one that is only animation and never sound. one of these groups is ok to autoplay where it won't have any impact on audio and one of those is autoplay and good luck for if audio is invited to the party or not. They're Different Fucking Categories Goddammit. i don't want to maybe have audio in the party, i want a looping animating picture and that's it!!!
Looking for a PeerTube instance that actually accepts new users
I have been trying to find a PeerTube instance so I can upload music my son's band performs.
I signed up to 5 different PeerTube instances over the past two weeks. 4 of them have not accepted or rejected my application, despite all of their pages saying the accept within 24-48 hours. The fifth instance denied my application with, "read the coc and reapply". I had read it before applying, but I read it again and reapplied, it was again denied with the same reason given.
I would like to find an instance for music, preferably not hosted in the US.

Любимый сын прислал ссылку на одну группу, послушать, заценить. Ну, я включил. Они там почти половину песни что-то ноют, ноют, а потом ка-ак!!! Без предупреждения. Вон, на картинке видно уровни громкости. Я аж подпрыгнул.

Тогда я впервые попробовал канадскую консервированную кукурузу и марципаны, а также финское сухое молоко. И что интересно — именно благодаря этим канадским продуктам я вообще узнал о них, привык, полюбил, а потом уже спокойно перешёл на российские аналоги. То есть в итоге мой личный опыт прямо поддержал российскую экономику — вопреки всем уверениям этой престарелой комсомолки, когда-то хорошо знакомой партработнику Миронову.
Так что вывод напрашивается чисто эмпирический: лабуба пздит.

I know Nvidia is bad and greedy, and they shouldn't impact our software ecosystem, and those who buy their GPUs and use Linux know what they're signing for, and etc etc
But recommending nouveau is disingenuous.
@a1ba The problem is that Nvidia is the only one who can fix the Maxwell and Pascal reclocking issues.
Unless somebody wants to play Russian Roulette with the propietary drivers.

It also isn't "just" the reclocking that stops nouveau but overall state of it. Last time I tried it, it couldn't even produce the correct image.
Well, I don't want to blame nouveau developers for that and all it's troubles is on Nvidia but I also wouldn't recommend nouveau to the average Joe because Joe doesn't care.

На случайно генерируемой карте придётся искать, где получится подышать и где попить воду. А где придётся отстреливать налетающих на вас представителей местной живности, потом хватать их трупики длинными языками и выпивать из них все соки.
Можно накапливать случайные эволюционные улучшения, контролировать мутагены, бороться с паразитами, убивать на себе опухоли, а в конце выпустить свои споры в воздух и начать разрастаться уже на следующем острове.

Фанаты Titanfall устали ждать третью часть (или хотя-бы адекватную поддержку второй части), нашли энтузиаста, пару лет как делающего по вечерам после работы дизельпанковый титанопад — Diesel Knights — и завалили его деньгами.
В этом году он стал жертвой больших сокращений, пронёсшихся по игровой индустрии и поэтому месяц назад он открыл кампанию на кикстартере по финансированию DK.
Он надеялся на $ 45 тысяч долларов, а получил свыше полумиллиона — $526 тысяч.
Базовую игру надеются выпустить где-то в конце 26 года, а все остальные плюшки с кикстартера будут добавлены с бесплатными обновлениями после.

GIFs were the way when we all lived in dial-up caves, but today they’re like hauling a CRT monitor to a LAN party “because nostalgia.” WebP does the exact same job but without wasting megabytes or pretending 256 colors is enough for anyone in 2025.
So yeah — mp4 isn’t the replacement. WebP is. He gets his silent loop, nobody gets surprise audio, and the rest of us don’t have to watch 12-MB GIFs load.
