При оценке грамотности используется количество прочитанных книг. Задумался как считать свои прочитанные книги. За этот год я начал читать 3 художественные книги, но ни одну не завершил, потому что не понравились. Прочитал больше половины одной технической книги. Почти каждый рабочий день я читаю какие-то технические статьи. Я не могу сказать, что я не читаю, так как я много читаю. Но я не прочитал ни одной книги за этот год. Куда в этой статистике попадают такие люди как я? Как в этой статистике учитываются люди, которые вечером детям читают книги? Детские книги маленькие, за неделю по полчаса-часу вечером можно по две книги в слух читать.
Кажется, что количество книг это какой-то не очень точный способ проверки читает человек или нет. Особенно статистам плевать, у них четкий вопрос, на который принимается простой ответ в виде числа.

Ну, по ссылке же не считают количество прочитанных книг. Там смотрят, прочёл ли подопытный хотя бы одну за год. Т.е. ты считаешь число, integer, а там это двоичный триггер да/нет, boolean. И вопрос, скорее всего, звучит соответственно: "читали ли вы книги в этом году?", как-нибудь так.
Грубый критерий, конечно, но его вполне можно использовать: большинство грамотных людей за год хоть одну книгу, да потребляет.
Use 'Bridgy Fed' to connect Mastodon and Bluesky
The Great Twitter Exodus of 2022 is still happening. It's just a little...fractured. A lot of X power users migrated to Bluesky early on, which paved the way for a flood of folks to join that service in 2024. Meanwhile, a lot of technically inclined individuals are still hanging out on Mastodon (at least, that's where I hang out).Bluesky and Mastodon are both decentralized services, in theory, but users of one service can't really talk to users on the other—or it wasn't possible before Bridgy Fed, anyway. It's a beta service that makes it possible for Bluesky and Fediverse-compatible applications, such as Mastodon, to interact.

This is where Bridgy Fed comes in. With this service, individual users of either service can opt in to "bridging" their accounts. I tested this out with my friend and Lifehacker alumni Eric Ravenscraft, who hangs out on Bluesky more than me. It worked well—we can now see each other's posts, like each other's posts, and even talk to each other, cross-network.

While this solution works well, there are a few hangups. Chiefly, it only functions if both people bridge their accounts. This means I can't see any comments from Bluesky users unless they also are bridged, and vice versa: During our little test, a few other Mastodon users responded to my conversation with Eric, but Eric could not see those replies. This make sense if you know how the system works—only comments from bridged users are bridged—but it's hardly ideal, and can lead to asymmetrical conversations. Unfortunately, the opt-in nature of the bridging service makes this inevitable.

the .bsky.social is the main instance. The bridge acts as another instance.
For example one of my friends has a ATProtocol account hosted on the fellas.social instance, so his username is @johndoe.fellas.social

The main difference with lemmy/fediverse is that instances don’t actually host the software, they just host the database. So it’s plug and play into any open source ATProtocol software. This dramatically decreases server loads and makes hosting an instance or your data cheaper but also means that software is more intensive to host.
You go to the settings and verify it. You don't have to host anything, just verify that you own the domain via text file or DNS record and choose to set it as your handle. Bluesky's ATProto has a couple extra layers of indirection and it's very easy to get a custom handle as a result.
The downside of this setup is that running your own complete network is completely impossible. If you want to follow theonion.com, anyone can find did:plc:a4pqq234yw7fqbddawjo7y35 in the DNS without too much work. That's the identifier for The Onion's Bluesky account, and even if they swapped back to .bsky.social, that ID number would stay. But that DID tells you absolutely nothing about where the data is currently hosted.
So how do you figure that out? Well, you register it with plc.directory/ which is ran by Bluesky and cannot currently be replaced. There's fancy cryptography involved that makes it hard for them to spoof data, but they are perfectly capable of simply not giving any data out for any given DID.

bluesky will eventually enshitify like reddit and twitter did and like all social media platforms with investors/financiers behind them always do. (reddit in particular promised not to enshitify at the beginning just like bluesky is promising right now).
be ready to find a new social platform like you had to do with reddit in another 4 to 9 years if you go with bluesky.
even bluesky's original creator already left bluesky because of the enshitification and developed nostr instead to compete with it.

The use of some decentralization techniques? It is decentralized because it uses decentralization techniques, and that's all there is to it. It is far more decentralized than this platform because of the techniques it uses. It focuses on users instead of centralizing around instances.
From the point of view of power dynamics? GTFO with that BS.
No, BlueSky is decentralized. It is more decentralized than this platform. These people are trying really really hard to bend things and find problems that don't really match reality.
And they need to be called out over it.
I really wish this platform was more decentralized, but that's not how the engineers designed it, and we need to call them out over it.

Вчера поговорили про кризис демографии в интересном разрезе - не просто с точки зрения "некому будет работать и все умрут", а что при определённом спаде численности почти неизбежен откат прогресса в целом. Не то, чтоб я полностью разделял такой прогноз, но некоторая вероятность есть.
#ПодумалТут что при поднятии темы "почему современные люди не хотят воспроизводиться" почти все старательно обходят один момент: для воспроизводства недостаточно иметь одного ребёнка и даже двое всё ещё ниже порога воспроизводства. Устойчивым коэффициентом считается 2.1. А если мы ставим приоритетом развитие, то часть его членов (те самые двигатели прогресса) менее склонны заводить детей (а то и семьи), получается, что для остальных надо целиться уже на двоих-троих. Получается, что нынешний европейский подход с "один ребёнок, может - два" - это хорошо, но чисто математически недостаточно. Нормой должно стать "двое, лучше - трое" или работать не будет вообще никак, лишь слегка оттянет неизбежное.
И мне кажется очевидным, что именно сильнее всего такому мешает: восьмичасовой рабочий день обоих родителей. Нужен возврат к "традиционной семье", где один из родителей занимается не работой, а домом. Это вызывает резкое неприятие: как так, один из партнёров должен пожертвовать своей независимостью? И что будет с экономикой, как это половина людей не будут производить продукт и приносить прибыль? Одинаково бомбит что левых, что правых и лишь деды-консерваторы вспоминают о временах, когда "нормальный мужик" мог позволить себе не только дом, машину и ружьё, но и жену-домохозяйку. В наше прогрессивное время, наверное, это может быть и домохозяин.
А, с другой стороны, иначе зачем это всё? Не в этом ли настоящий смысл "вкалывают роботы, счастлив человек"?

YouTube по накрученной логике начал перенаправлять на consent.youtube.com все гостевые запросы, в том числе ваши любимые серверы федивёрса, которые за вас собирают OpenGraph по первой ссылке в посте (предпросмотр/превью). "Consent"-страница, конечно же, не имеет ничего общего с контентом и не несёт смысловой нагрузки. 
Может быть, ваш сервер на стероидах и имеет учётку на YT, чтобы обойти сие недоразумение технической мысли, но остальной феди не может на это полагаться.
Что делать? Позаботиться о читателе поста, дав краткое описание или название видео, которое лежит по ссылке, чтобы тот мог охотнее или просто без FOMO нажать и посмотреть.

Сбер повысил ставки по базовым ипотекам. Минимальная для вторички составит 28,1%, без скидок — 30%.
С таким процентом за среднюю двушку в Москве стоимостью ₽12,5 млн при первоначальном взносе 20% придется платить больше ₽250 тыс. в месяц.
Но есть и хорошая новость: возобновились сделки по семейной и IT-ипотеке.
А еще была тут по соседству новость, что в мск и области арендные квартиры закончились. Ибо желающих снять стало больше (так как ипотека для покупки недоступна), а количество твартир осталось +- таким же, как в прошлом году.

Печальную новость вычитал: вчера умер Питер Синфилд. Автор текстов и продюсер первых четырех альбомов King Crimson. Кстати, я почему-то был уверен, что он был их первым вокалистом, но википедия этого не подтверждает, хотя вот фото, где он за микрофоном.
Понимаю, что его имя ничего не говорит миллениалам и далее, но для моего поколения это столп. Помянул. Слушаю In the Court of the Crimson King (хотя, если честно, больше люблю более поздние их альбомы).
